You may arrive in Numazu looking for Aqours. By the time the light begins to soften over the Kano River, however, you may realize that Numazu itself has become part of the memory.
Come for the locations. Leave enough time to discover the real city around them.
This guide does not try to collect every background frame in a single exhausting day. It gives first-time visitors a route that works on a phone, explains the bus before it becomes stressful, and separates the coastal pilgrimage from the city walk.
More than an old anime location
Numazu is not simply a city that appeared in an anime and moved on. Local businesses, tourism organizations and transport operators have continued to welcome fans through the official Machiaruki Stamp project, collaboration displays and Love Live! Sunshine!! buses.
Do not treat those extras as a checklist. The sea, the streets, the views of Awashima and the small businesses that welcome visitors are the real foundation of the trip.

The most common planning mistake is treating all Numazu locations as one walkable neighborhood. They are not.

Before leaving Numazu Station
If you are coming from Tokyo, a common fast route is the Tokaido Shinkansen to Mishima followed by a short local JR ride to Numazu. Depending on the train and transfer, allow roughly 60–90 minutes.
At Numazu Station, use the south exit and follow the current signs for the Uchiura-bound bus. The official sightseeing course currently directs passengers to bus stop No. 3, and routes in the N21–N25 group serve the coastal area. Destinations and stopping patterns vary, so check the day’s route rather than memorizing one bus number.

The main Uchiura locations
Mito Beach and Yasudaya Ryokan
Mito Beach appears in important moments throughout the series. Across the road, Yasudaya Ryokan is associated with Chika’s family inn and is also a registered tangible cultural property. Enjoy the beach from public space and keep the operating ryokan entrance clear.
Shogetsu
This small confectionery shop is a natural pause near Mito Beach. Visit during business hours, buy something when possible and be patient if the shop is busy. It is part of the local community, not a permanent exhibition room.
Sannoura General Information Center
The building and nearby waterfront appear in the series, while the interior has become a welcoming landmark for fans. Current official information lists 9:00–17:00, with a New Year closure; recheck before traveling.
Izu Mito Sea Paradise
This is not a five-minute photo stop. If Koi ni Naritai AQUARIUM is central to your trip, allow a meaningful block for exhibits and performances and shorten the city walk later.
Nagahama Castle Ruins
Aqours connection + real history
The climb gives the route something a checklist cannot: perspective. From the ruins you can look across Uchiura Bay toward Awashima and, in clear conditions, Mount Fuji.
The site also belongs to Numazu’s history. It was a naval base connected with the Later Hojo clan during the Sengoku period.
Choose the aquarium or the longer city walk
Trying to do both properly is where a relaxed pilgrimage turns into a race.

Skip the full aquarium visit and return early enough for Nakamise, Central Park, Ayumi Bridge and the Kano River.

What about Uranohoshi Girls’ High School?
Do not enter or approach the school grounds. The model is an active educational area surrounded by a residential community. Do not photograph students, block roads or walk up to school buildings.
For a first visit, leave the school area out of the main itinerary. Mito Beach, Sannoura and Nagahama create a stronger and more comfortable first-day experience. Returning fans can research the Nagaisaki Elementary and Junior High School Entrance bus stop as a separate extension using the official course and current transport information.

For a meal that makes the day feel like a visit to Numazu rather than only an anime pilgrimage, choose Ikesuya, operated directly by the Uchiura Fisheries Cooperative.
The official hours are currently 11:00–15:00, with last orders at 14:30. It is normally closed Wednesday and Thursday, temporary closures occur, and credit cards are not accepted. Bring cash and check the official calendar.

Central Numazu after the bus ride
The city route is deliberately compact. By this point you have already spent several hours on the coast, so the goal is not to add another long database of locations. It is to experience the everyday streets that connect the series to the city.
Numazu Station and Nakamise
The station appears throughout the series, while the shopping streets south of it place fan culture among ordinary local businesses. Look for current displays and participating stamp locations, but enter shops only during business hours and buy something when appropriate.
The station area is also the best place to solve practical problems: food, cash, luggage, a hotel check-in or a backup plan after a delayed bus.
Central Park and Ayumi Bridge
Central Park, the bridge, the river terrace and the Kano River appear across the story. More importantly, this area gives the day a natural ending that does not depend on a shop still being open.
If you are tired, skip extra shopping and come directly here. The spacious waterfront is a better final memory than rushing through three more pins before your train.
What to add on day two
Choose one main experience. Awashima, a proper aquarium visit and Numazu Port each need time; they are not three quick stops to squeeze into one morning.
Awashima
Choose Awashima if the island scenery, the frog exhibits and the steep approach to Awashima Shrine are central to your pilgrimage. Reaching the island involves a shuttle boat, and walking, exhibits and the shrine approach can take several hours.
Check seasonal opening times and the final return boat before boarding. The official English page currently warns visitors not to miss the final shuttle.
Numazu Port and Byuo
Choose the port for seafood, the large Byuo floodgate and a more conventional sightseeing experience. It is especially useful when traveling with someone who is less interested in anime locations.
The port is separate from the station walking loop. Allow transport time rather than assuming it is a short continuation from the Kano River.
Pilgrimage etiquette
Numazu has welcomed fans for years. Protect that relationship by traveling as a guest rather than as a collector claiming access to every location.

It is the moment when the bus leaves central Numazu and the coast opens beside you. It is the first clear view of Awashima, fresh fish from Uchiura, and the climb to Nagahama Castle before the bus home.
