Zoro, Usopp, Franky and Nami can be viewed outdoors. Robin is the schedule-sensitive stop, so build the day around KIOKU rather than treating every statue equally.

Start with the most flexible outdoor stop. The statue stands near the lawn after entering the park, and the rear three-sword angle is worth walking around for.

Usopp — Aso Station

Usopp welcomes visitors in the station forecourt beside Michi no Eki Aso. This is the most convenient place to combine a statue stop with restrooms, tourist information, local food and a short break.

Robin — Kumamoto Earthquake Museum KIOKU

This is the emotional center of the EAST route. Robin stands before the preserved former Tokai University campus, where the damage and lessons of the 2016 earthquake are passed on.

Three ways to eat through Aso

No restaurant is mandatory. Pick the meal that fits the day: fast beside Usopp, scenic after Robin, or a slower cultural experience near Franky.

Local bento, takana rice, milk sweets and seasonal products beside Usopp. Best when Robin’s schedule matters more than a long lunch.

Franky — Takamori Station

Franky’s huge raised pose and the restored Minami Aso Railway make this the strongest engineering story of the route. The statue stands on the station lawn and is easy to spot from the parking area.

Nami — Moenosato

Finish at the foothills of Tawarayama. The open landscape gives Nami more breathing room than the station stops, and the airport is only about 15 minutes away.

Questions that change the day

Can I do the EAST statues without a car?

Some stops connect to rail, but linking all five efficiently is difficult. A rental car, private driver or organized tour is the practical one-day choice.

Which stop controls the schedule?

Robin at KIOKU. The other four statues are outdoors, while Robin follows the museum site’s access information.

Should I wait for a famous restaurant?

No. Protect the route first. Use Michi no Eki Aso for speed, Akaushi no Yakata or Yama-yasu for beef, and Takamori dengaku when a slower cultural meal is the priority.

What if mountain weather is poor?

Check official road and weather updates before departure. Reverse or shorten the route when necessary instead of forcing the planned order.
